Our Engagement Party at the Farm

The farm at 1384 Sweetbriar Rd in Perkasie, PA turned out to be the perfect place to celebrate our engagement. People came from all over — our graduate school friends made the trip down from Buffalo, Mom, Dad, and brother BJ came down from Fulton, and a great mix of high school and college friends rounded out the crowd. It was one of those rare occasions where so many different chapters of life end up in the same place at the same time, and somehow it just works.

Late Night Setup Tent

Setting up the night before is always its own kind of adventure. Tents went up, things got sorted, and by the time the party was underway the place had a real energy to it. Folks spread out across the farm and made themselves at home in the way you only do when the setting is right and the people around you are ones you genuinely love being with.

One of the highlights that had everyone talking was jumping off the Lull — a massive forklift — right into the pool. It’s exactly the kind of thing that sounds a little wild when you describe it but makes perfect sense in the moment, and it was a blast.

Between the pool action, there was go-cart racing, a little volleyball, and plenty of just hanging out and catching up. The farm gave everyone room to find their own fun, and people took full advantage of it.

Seeing Rusty, Yong Guo, and Jeff together — friends spanning from childhood all the way through graduate school — was one of those moments that makes you stop and appreciate how long these friendships have been going. The Delval crew was out in full force too, and the whole group made for quite a crowd when everyone was together.

Mom and Dad were in the thick of it — cooking, being there, making it feel like family. Having the parents and grandparents all together was something special, and seeing the two families mix and share the day was exactly what an engagement party should be.

The cake got cut, gifts were opened, and at some point someone ended up with a new headlamp — which feels about right for this group. The morning after brought everyone back together a little slower, a little quieter, but still happy.

All in all, it was a day that brought together a lot of people who mean a lot to us, in a place that feels like home. Everyone had a blast, and that’s really all you can ask for.
